A Guastavino’s NYC Wedding: Michela and Charles’ Special Day

Michela and Charles were married on a beautiful October day at the historic New York City landmark, Guastavino’s. This premier wedding venue is located beneath the Queensboro Bridge in Manhattan and is renowned for its vaulted tile ceilings, soaring granite arches, and spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline.

This architectural masterpiece was originally built in 1909 by Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino. It initially served as a marketplace where local vendors sold their wares, but was later converted into an event space. Today, Guastavino’s is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in New York City.

As a husband-and-wife team of New York Wedding Photographers, we were thrilled to return to this iconic venue to capture the magic of Charles and Michela’s wedding day. We’ve had the pleasure of photographing several weddings at Guastavino’s, and there are very few venues that can rival its grandeur and old-world charm.

We’ve gathered some of our favorite moments from Michela and Charles’s Guastavino’s NYC wedding to show just how special this space is. Our newlyweds made great use of the venue’s many photo-worthy spots, from the grand staircase to the romantic private garden. We hope you enjoy reliving their wedding day through our lens!

Getting Ready for the Big Day

The day began with Michela and her bridesmaids getting ready together in style. They wore matching floral kimonos as they sat for their hair and makeup. Michela looked every bit the radiant bride in an elegant, white kimono. Even her lovely flower girl had her own special robe. The atmosphere was fun and festive as they sipped champagne and prepared for the day ahead.

When it was time for Michela to put on her wedding dress, her mother and bridesmaids helped her into the most beautiful gown. She chose a simple, fitted, mermaid-style dress with delicate scalloped detailing on the bust. She completed the look with an elegant pearl train that fell gracefully over the front and back of the dress.

Meanwhile, Charles was getting ready with his groomsmen. They donned traditional black tuxedos with white shirts and boutonnieres. Once everyone was looking their best, Michela spent a tender moment with her father before leaving for the ceremony.

The Ceremony

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle, New York served as the location of the ceremony. This stunning church was the perfect backdrop for Michela and Charles’ nuptials. The bride made a graceful entrance walking down the aisle on her father’s arm, meeting Charles at the altar for a beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony, Charles and Michela shared a sweet first kiss. They were all smiles as they walked back down the aisle together to start the next chapter of their lives. Guests showered them with rose petals as they left the church.

Wedding Photos at Guastavino’s

A Guastavino’s NYC wedding is truly a photographer’s dream. With its gorgeous natural light, lush gardens, and grand architecture, there are endless possibilities for capturing beautiful wedding photos. We started in the garden, where Michela and Charles enjoyed a moment together away from the crowd. The Queensboro Bridge made a stunning backdrop for their photos, along with the abundant greenery and colorful mural in the garden.

After that, we were joined by the wedding party for some group photos before heading into the venue. We captured some of our favorite photos of the day on the winding staircase. This offered the perfect opportunity to capture Michela’s gorgeous train. Glowing candles and greenery adorned the stairs. These provided a stunning contrast to the industrial-style windows that flooded the space with light.

An Unforgettable Guastavino’s NYC Wedding Reception

The reception took place in Guastavino’s impressive event space, with towering tiled ceilings, archways, and exposed brick walls. Softly glowing candles and tall lush green centerpieces decorated the room.

Michela and Charles smiled from ear to ear as they joined their guests at the reception. They kicked off the festivities with their first dance as husband and wife. We loved capturing them smiling and laughing as they shared their special moment on the parquet dance floor.

As the newlyweds finished their dance, their guests gathered around them to celebrate. The dance floor came alive as everyone laughed and cheered with the happy couple.

After that, everyone sat down for dinner and the speeches began. Members of the wedding party took turns sharing touching stories and well-wishes for the couple. Their kind words drew laughs and tears from our beautiful bride.

After dinner, it was time to return to the dance floor—this time with their parents for the mother-son and father-daughter dances. Then, the dance floor opened up to all the guests, who enjoyed themselves well into the night. Our newlyweds cut into their beautiful four-tiered cake to close out the evening. They enjoyed a bite and toasted to their new life together.
