Guastavino’s: Explore This Iconic NYC Wedding Venue

If you love amazing spaces with old-world charm and breathtaking architecture, then we must say that a Guastavino’s wedding is definitely one to consider. This New York City landmark, located beneath the Queensboro Bridge in Midtown Manhattan, is genuinely one of a kind.

The Queensborough Bridge, which spans the East River between Manhattan and Queens, was completed in 1909. Beneath the bridge is a canopy of vaults designed by Spanish architect Rafael Guastavino who worked with his son to create the magnificent space using a centuries-old technique called the Catalan vault.

This uniquely designed space beneath the bridge served as a marketplace where vendors could sell their produce and goods year-round. It was aptly named the Bridgemarket until closing during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

During the following years, the building was used by the Department of Transportation until it was declared a New York City landmark in 1973. Today, the venue serves as an event space for weddings, Bar & Bat Mitzvahs, corporate events, and more.
