From soaring gilded ballrooms to intimate garden terraces with skyline views, the range of what NYC offers is extraordinary.
This isn’t a list compiled from a venue directory or reviews. These are spaces I know intimately — the way afternoon light falls through the windows during cocktail hour, which grand staircases photograph best with a wide lens, and which terraces will give you a skyline backdrop your guests will never stop talking about.

I’ve photographed at dozens of venues across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and beyond. The ten below are the ones I keep recommending — not because they’re the most expensive or the most Instagrammed, but because they consistently deliver on what actually matters on a wedding day: great light, beautiful architecture, and a flow that lets real moments happen naturally.
Here’s what I’ve learned shooting at each of them.
#1: Guastavino’s
Nothing quite says New York City like a wedding venue that’s built directly into the arches of the Queensboro Bridge! Once you visit, you’ll see right away that there’s nothing ordinary about a Guastavino wedding.
This luxury wedding location in NYC combines old-world charm with a modern-day feel. We love capturing our happy couples under Guastavino’s spectacular granite arches and vaulted ceilings.
With 15,000 square feet of space, it can easily host weddings of 150 or more guests. Our favorite part happens to be Guastavino’s private garden, which makes it a true hidden gem in the city.
Julian’s note: The vaulted Guastavino-tiled ceiling creates a canopy unlike anything else in the city. I always position couples near the central archways for portraits — the ceramic tiles above, the arched columns beside you, and the warm ambient light combine for images that feel genuinely timeless. If you can, plan your ceremony for late afternoon; the natural light through the east-facing windows during that window is extraordinary and impossible to replicate with flash.
#2: Gotham Hall
For brides-to-be looking for a breathtaking wedding venue, Gotham Hall in midtown Manhattan is one of our all-time favorites! In the early 1920s, the venue was actually a bank. Now Gotham Hall’s striking architecture makes it one of the most glamorous luxury wedding venues in NYC.
We could carry on forever about the grandeur of the building’s 9000 square-foot ballroom and its towering 70-foot ceiling.
Or about how light streams in from the room’s spectacular stained-glass skylight.
Or about the venue’s world-class food, white-glove service, and the fact that not a single detail is ever overlooked on your big day.

Julian’s note: The stained-glass dome is the defining feature here, and it rewards photographers who know how to use it. Midday light through the dome creates a natural spotlight effect; avoid scheduling your first dance after 9pm if you want the dome visible in those shots. The grand staircase is a gift — it gives you natural height variation without posing couples artificially, and the gold-and-marble palette photographs incredibly well in candlelight.
#3: Lotte New York Palace
If you asked us for one word that comes to mind when we think about Lotte New York Palace, we’d have to say fairytale. Just a short walk from Central Park, this venue has a picture-perfect backdrop that guests will be talking about for days, weeks, and yes YEARS to come.
Time and again, our brides tell us how Lotte New York Palace far exceeded their expectations when it came to luxury wedding venues in NYC. Cipriani Wall Street is one of the most prominent NYC wedding venues and also one of our most beloved venues to photograph our brides. Featuring a magnificent 70-foot ceiling with a Wedgwood dome, Cipriani’s event space typically leaves brides and their guests in total awe.
One of our favorite things about this venue: Cipriani provides one waiter per every five guests and one captain per every fifty guests, making the experience totally luxurious and second to none.
#5: New York Public Library
The New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building is a true icon in New York City and the perfect spot for couples looking for the ultimate luxury wedding experience, located very close to the Empire State Building and Rockefeller Plaza.
The library has not one or two, but seven different spaces to host a wedding – from Astor Hall’s white marble walls and high ceiling to Bartos Forum’s 30-foot-high glass and cast-iron dome, you’ll have a backdrop that’s timeless and jaw-dropping.

What’s more, with over 100 years of hospitality experience, the team at Capitale nails it every time. The extensive menu, choice of cocktails, and themed chef stations are every couple’s dream.

The Foundry is a 19th Century gem located just steps from the East River. Previously a manufacturer of fine varnishes, it has since been transformed into a high-end event space for weddings and other events.
As the only foundry still standing in the area, The Foundry offers couples that raw NYC industrial grit combined with lush green spaces and ivy-covered terraces.
The Foundry offers its own vibe, and with skyline views, it’s a wedding photographer’s dream come true.
Julian’s note: The Foundry is one of the few venues where I actively encourage couples to wander off the beaten path with me. The outdoor garden courtyard during golden hour is something special — exposed brick walls, ivy, and soft directional light that requires almost zero flash. It photographs completely differently from any Manhattan ballroom, which is exactly the point.

Julian’s note: The Palm Court is where I always push for bridal portraits — the stained-glass ceiling and ivory-and-gold palette photograph in a way that needs almost no editing. The Terrace Room’s floor-to-ceiling windows give you Central Park as a backdrop, and if your timeline allows, portraits here at blue hour are extraordinary. If you’re booking the Plaza, ask about access to the Oak Room for cocktails — the warm wood paneling and sconces produce portrait light I’d manufacture myself if I could.
