Historic wedding venues have always been a favorite among New York brides, and Tappan Hill Mansion is no exception. Located in Tarrytown, New York, this stunning hilltop venue offers picturesque views of the Hudson Valley and overlooks the Palisades along the Hudson River. Situated on the former estate of the celebrated American writer Mark Twain, the tranquil manor is only a short 45-minute drive from midtown Manhattan.
The venue accommodates both indoor and outdoor receptions and features two spectacular reception rooms for affairs of varying sizes. The Hudson Room is an intimate space that seats 150 people. This elegant space features large windows that fill the room with natural light and offer stunning views of the Tappan Hill grounds.
The Pavillion Room is a much larger space that can accommodate up to 250 guests. The room is adorned with draped ceilings and sweeping windows. It opens to a stone promenade that leads to the magnificent terrace with breathtaking views of the Hudson River.
Laura and Steve’s vision for their wedding day was one of elegance and sophistication. This made Tappan Hill Mansion the perfect choice for their venue. The private mansion is tucked away into the countryside and offers a sense of exclusivity and luxury that is unrivaled.
As their team of photographers for the day, we were absolutely thrilled when Laura and Steve told us that they would be getting married at Tappan Hill Mansion. The photography opportunities at this venue are endless, from the grandiose staircase beneath the domed ceilings to the serene and perfectly manicured gardens.
The Mansion is truly a photographer’s dream come true. We’re thrilled to be sharing some of our favorite photos from Laura and Steve’s wedding with you today.
Getting Ready at Tappan Hill Mansion
The Tappan Hill Mansion has a private suite available for the bride and her bridal party to use on the day of her wedding. For Laura and her bridesmaids, it was the perfect place to relax, get ready, and get pampered before the big day.
Laura’s bridesmaids were the first to put on their beautiful dresses. The bridal party wore long, flowing gowns in a soft blue-grey hue with dazzling sequins on the bodice. Our bride’s dress was absolutely exquisite. A beautiful, ivory v-neck gown with intricate lace and beaded detailing and a train that flowed behind her as she walked.
As the bride made her to the gardens for the First Look, we took the opportunity to capture some stunning photos of her. Every detail of her look was flawless, from her hair and makeup to the beautiful bouquet of flowers she carried. She embodied the definition of grace and elegance, which was further complemented by the Tappan Hill Mansion’s classic architecture and grandeur.
The First Look
One of our favorite moments from Laura and Steve’s wedding day was their First Look. They met just outside the building’s entrance in front of an abundance of greenery set against the mansion’s stone walls.
As Laura approached Steve from behind, the look on his face was one of pure joy and happiness. Before he turned to face her, the two were already laughing and smiling. Their embrace was such a sweet and emotional moment, and we feel so lucky to have been able to capture it for them.
Photos of the Bride and Groom
Before the photos with the wedding party, we took Laura and Steve around the Tappan Hill grounds for some couple’s portraits. The mansion’s architecture and flourishing landscaping provided the perfect backdrop for these romantic and timeless photos.
Laura and Steve are such a fun-loving couple, and they were laughing and joking the whole time. We took some final pictures with the wedding party before the ceremony. Then it was time for Laura and Steve to tie the knot!
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the Tappan Hill Mansion’s terrace beneath a magnificent wedding arch. It was made of various kinds of stunning white flowers and lush greenery. Our bride was absolutely glowing. She was escorted by her father to the altar where her handsome groom was waiting for her. Laura and Steve exchanged their vows before their family and friends. The sun began to set behind them, creating a truly magical moment.
The Reception in the Hudson Room
After the ceremony, guests made their way into the mansion for the reception, which was held in the Hudson Room. The entire room was decorated with an abundance of beautiful white flowers and greenery, which added to the romantic ambiance.
The wedding party danced their way into the ballroom in groups of 2. They were followed by Laura and Steve, who made their grand entrance as husband and wife. They were greeted with cheers and lots of applause.
Their first dance was so incredibly sweet. And it wasn’t without some laughter which we’d come to expect from our lovely couple during our time with them! As they finished their dance, the floor filled with a pillowy white fog that made it seem like they were dancing among the clouds.
The night was filled with touching speeches, endless laughter, and plenty of dancing. It was truly an honor to be a part of Laura and Steve’s wedding day. We wish them all the happiness in the world!
