Swoon-worthy First Look Photos To Inspire Your Wedding Day

It’s always been a tradition for the groom not to see the bride before the wedding ceremony. But if recent wedding trends are anything to go by, this tradition is becoming less and less relevant due to the growing popularity of First Look photos. Based on a study by The Knot, 44% of the 13,000 couples surveyed did a First Look before their wedding ceremonies!

As NYC wedding photographers, we’ve had the honor of taking many First Look photos for our couples. And one thing we can say is that they’re truly breathtaking experiences filled with raw emotions and love. If you’re on the fence about whether or not to take First Look photos on your wedding day, here’s a few reasons why they’re definitely worth considering.

First Look photos give you a moment to slow down during a hectic day.

Between getting your hair and makeup done, popping champagne with your bridesmaids, and talking to your family and friends, your wedding day can feel pretty hectic despite the excitement. First Look photos allow you to slow down from the morning hustle and bustle and have some calm before you go in for the actual ceremony.

You’ll get some alone time with your hubby-to-be.

Seeing each other for the first time on your wedding day is undoubtedly a momentous event, regardless of whether you wait until you’re at the alter or do a First Look photography session. With First Looks, though, you and your partner get the time and space to celebrate your love. Yes, your wedding photographer will be there to capture your First Look photos. But it’s still much more private than if you were to have all of your friends and family there. For many couples, the First Look session is about the only time they get to spend alone on their big day – well, until they jet off on their honeymoon at the end of the day!

First Look photos may ultimately give you more time to spend with your guests.

Traditionally, couples wait until after the ceremony or until the cocktail hour to take the majority of their wedding photos. This tends to limit the amount of time you have to grab drinks and share a few laughs with your guests. First Look photos can give you that chance to have a little more time with your family and friends.

From the hair and makeup chair straight to the photographer… First Look photos will capture you at your best!

Since First Look photos are often taken in the morning, they give you a chance to capture the moments right after you get your hair and makeup done. This is not to say that you won’t have fabulous photos taken throughout the whole day… but there’s just something about taking them right after you get all glammed up!

These are just a few of the reasons why you should consider a First Look photography session. The decision whether to take them or not is ultimately on you. After all, it’s your big day.
