Alex and Kyle’s Harold Pratt House wedding took place on February 18th, 2017 in New York City. The Pratt House is an old mansion, with fireplaces, beautiful chandeliers, and an iconic grand staircase, among other features. It perfectly captured the timeless grandeur of New York City they were looking for. We decided to have a romantic, winter wedding, all in doors, with every room covered in candle light.
They tried to have an extremely elegant, high-end wedding, but intertwined with some moments of humor, surprise, and fun-to name a few, the couple’s flower girl was an adult friend of theirs who also carried their dog down the aisle, dropping flowers on his head as she went; Alex’s mom’s speech was done in rap form, and there was a photo booth with lots of fun props to choose from after dinner. A Pratt House wedding was exactly what Alex has pictured and she made it amazing!
The guest list was a moderate 125 people, mostly from NY and DC, but some flying in from London, Barcelona, and New Zealand. The colors were matte gold, slate gray, and ivory/blush tones. The ceremony was an interfaith mix of Jewish and Greek Orthodox traditions, along with readings from Khalil Gibran, and Yeats.
