The Venetian Catering & Special Events in New Jersey is one of the most luxurious wedding venues around. With its jaw-dropping architecture, breathtaking views, and elegant decor, this venue will make a couples’ special day unforgettable. It certainly did for Mariam and Michael, who tied the knot in a stunning Egyptian wedding ceremony followed by a reception at The Venetian. We had the honor of photographing their nuptials in the Coptic church and their Venetian wedding. Now we’re so excited to share some details that may inspire your own wedding day!
The Magestic Venue
“I’m a very organized person – so things need to be clean, tidy, and simple,” Mariam told us when we first spoke to her about her wedding goals.
She certainly picked the perfect venue to reflect her personality! The Venetian’s palatial ballroom can be customized according to any taste or color scheme and looked fabulous with Mariam’s wedding decor choices. As you can see in the photo below, Mariam chose tall white and light pink florals from Eltingville Florist to adorn the tables. They looked absolutely stunning set against the venue’s soaring 35-ft high ceilings, exquisite chandeliers, and Italian marble decor. They also complimented The Venetian’s gold Chiavari chairs perfectly.
We adored the tiered tower white wedding cake Mariam chose, designed by award-winning cake designer Christine Hasler. Its glamourous design was a focal point during the reception. There’s just something so grand about a tall wedding cake, especially when the bride has an elaborate gown. Did we mention how delicious it was too? Mariam planned a beautiful wedding with all of the luxury touches a bride dreams of.
Speaking of luxury touches, The Venetian has an incredible outdoor patio surrounded by lush greenery and garden features. The perfect wedding day weather made getting outside for some beautiful outdoor shots possible.
The Couple
We loved working as Mariam and Michael’s wedding photographers, and are so thrilled they chose us to capture their Venetian wedding. The two actually met at a friend’s wedding in New York City 5 years prior to their wedding day. Mariam had been living in Toronto at the time while Michael was based in the U.S. During their long-distance relationship, they flew back and forth to see each other (all the way up until their wedding day)!
Having planned her entire wedding from Toronto, Mariam was inspired by several close friends who had also wed in New York City. They included our beautiful past brides Catherine, Angela, and Christine! A huge thank you to these ladies for referring us!
The Wedding Day Look
“My gown was from Bridal Reflections NYC,” Mariam said. “I had the opportunity to personally customize every detail with Galia Lahav’s Stylist, Sharon Sever. I let my mother choose my dress – so long as she let me put a slit in it – and kept it a surprise from my bridesmaids and family until the day of the wedding.”
Galia Lahav dresses are hand-made in Israel by skilled seamstresses using traditional techniques that have been passed down for generations. As you can see, Mariam certainly made an elegant statement in her couture wedding dress. It featured a gorgeous plunging V corseted top and intricately designed pleated silk tulle skirt embroidered with floral appliques. And of course, the slit up the side! She looked divine.
Our groom Michael also looked so handsome in his custom tuxedo from Garrison Bespoke in Toronto. The brand works with many athletes and celebrities – from the Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs to Drake.
A Party to Remember
Egyptian weddings aren’t just about the bride and groom. In Egyptian culture, family plays a very important role. And so the guests are a big part of the celebration, as they come together to witness two families becoming one.
At this Venetian wedding, Mariam and Michael’s guests truly celebrated in style. They enjoyed drinks and a feast fit for royalty, all catered by the venue. Mariam and Michael had their first dance as man and wife as their family and friends cheered them along. Then this incredible group danced into the evening to live music from the very talented The Palace Entertainment.
