501 Union wedding – Hanna and Rusik

Tucked among five distinct Brooklyn neighborhoods, Hanna and Rusik tied the knot at the 501 Union in the late summer of 2016. Family and friends enjoyed an open-air courtyard ceremony where the couple was married under a ivory draping structure with pink and coral garlands. The bride wore a stunning traditional red dress with handmade beading. Both traditions of the couple were preformed at the ceremony – a perfect union of two families becoming one. Guest were then escorted to a elegant cocktail lounge before dinner. For the first time, the bride and groom was announced as the new Mr. and Mrs.

The Vendors

by their live band. The natural light filled the reception hall and the tables were lined with beautiful bud vases featuring ivory roses and coral peonies. All the guests ate, drank and danced to the occasion.

The Reception

The Princeton Figure Skating mascot also made an appearance before cake cutting to end the night. This wedding was the perfect union of two people set in the new and old Brooklyn, an industrial chic with a touch of modern glamour.

The Venue

About the venue: 501 Union has become a hub for the community to gather, celebrate, educate, and learn. The building dates back to 1916 and once served as a classic car restoration shop. It was transformed into a private events venue in 2013 and now provides a unique backdrop for stylish weddings, corporate events, and photo shoots. This newly refurbished 6,300-square-foot multi-room space unites industrial elements of brick, hardwood, and steel with refined and polished finishes. The signature 50-foot skylight and open-air garden flood space with natural light. Locally-sourced design elements include Modo chandeliers by Jason Miller, customized Flavor Paper wallpaper, and a vaulted skylight that runs the length of the main gathering space.
